Heartbeat's
Young Offenders programme primarily exists to achieve
the following outcomes:
- Provide
personal development training linked to the arts (for
example, workshops that look at career opportunities
in the music business, TV & Film) to motivate young
offenders to set goals and pursue their dreams.
- Use
the arts and positive role models to get young offenders
back into education/learning and help them to stay
away from a lifestyle of crime. € Provide employment
or work experience opportunities for students of the
Academy through links with relevant businesses and
organisations (for example, in the building industry,
entertainment and sport).
- Employ
and train ex-youth offenders to serve as mentors to
their peers on the Heartbeat programme.
- Help
young offenders and those at risk of offending to
obtain new skills by providing them with fun learning
opportunities. For example, web design, music video
making, music production, songwriting, photography,
modern dance sessions, DJ classes, Arts and crafts.
- Help
young offenders reintegrate into community life when
they transfer from custody to community supervision.
- To
complement and work in partnership with parents, voluntary
and statutory organizations to deliver local and national
outcomes
