Impact
The programme to date has been a huge success. Its impact on the development of the majority of pupils that complete it is evident from changed attitude towards learning and respect for others. The programme has helped to address disruptive behaviour and meet some key needs of the students (for example, low self-esteem, poor interpersonal skills). In real terms the programme has helped pupils to:

  • Raise their expectations
  • Have a greater desire to succeed in life
  • Recognize that discipline and hard work bring rewards
  • Understand the effect bad behaviour can have on their peers
  • Understand some of their rights and responsibilities as citizens
  • Build their self-esteem
  • Respect others
  • Improve their overall behaviour

The evidence that we have used to make this assessment is as follows:

  • Information fed back by teachers
  • Information fed back by pupils
  • Information fed back by parents
  • Information fed back by course tutors
  • Information fed back by external agencies
